Can you renew an Indian passport in Saudi Arabia?
Yes. Indian citizens residing in Saudi Arabia with a valid Iqama can apply for passport re-issue through the Embassy of India in Riyadh or the Consulate General of India in Jeddah, depending on their location.
Applications are processed through VFS Global, the authorised service provider for Indian passport services in Saudi Arabia.
You may need a passport re-issue if your passport is expiring, has expired, has insufficient visa pages, requires a change to personal details, or has been lost or damaged.
When can you apply?
You can apply within one year before your passport expires or at any time after expiry. If your passport expired more than three years ago, you must submit a sworn affidavit explaining the delay.
Certain changes to personal details, such as your name or a parent's name, require prior approval from the Embassy. Address changes with proof, adding a spouse's name with supporting evidence, and splitting a name with two proofs are listed as exceptions.
Documents required
For a standard passport re-issue, prepare:
- Completed online application form and printed copy.
- Original passport and any additional passport booklets.
- Photocopies of the first two and last two pages, plus all pages containing observations by the passport issuing authority.
- Copy of your valid Iqama and the original for verification. A Ministry of Interior printout showing Iqama validity may also be submitted.
- Three recent passport-size photographs measuring 2 × 2 inches with a white background.
- Supporting documents for any changes to personal details.
- A sworn affidavit if your passport expired more than three years ago.
The application centre may request additional documents depending on your circumstances. Lost and damaged passports have separate checklists.
